One more museum!

Walked to the Pompidou Center this morning to take in the 6th story view of the city.    The Pompidou does look weird with its modern architecture, but the art collection is great.     Escalators are in "tubes" on outside of the building.    Jackson pollack, Andy Warhol, and more.  Time to say goodbye to this wonderful apartment and city

Muse de l'orangerie and d'orsay

I wanted to see monet's large water lily panels, so we walked to musee de l'orangerie at one end of the Tuileries.   L'orangerie also houses some cezanne ,Picasso ,Matisse .  It is Paul Guillaume's collection.    It was starting to rain for the first time this week so I got to use my umbrella while waiting in line at the d'Orsay.   I hadn't seen everything the first time through.   Visited the impressionist exhibit .  Walking sure stirs up the appetite!    More French food and wine!

The Paris flea market

UEvery weekend for one hundred years!   But, no photos!   So I'm at the entrance to one of twelve galleries.   The architectural salvage was my favorite. I found a green ceramic fireplace mantel perfect for my house.   There's everything from impressionist paintings to Eiffel Tower key chains

Chateau chantilly

ITook the train north of Paris to chateau chantilly.  It's last resident the duke of aumale created the museum to house his art collection. He was also a horse lover and built magnificent stables which now house the chantilly horse museum .  this is the stables!

Strolling Paris

The E Dehillerin kitchen store is just a few blocks away.  If they don't have it, it doesn't exist!  Check out their website .  the Paris shopping arcades were made by enclosing 2 buildings with glass rooftops.   Great bookstores, specialty shops and of course bistros

To say the Louvre is overwhelming is an understatement but if you arrive early you just might be able to actually see the Mona Lisa!   I was on the front line!  Two hours of art and we were ready for lunch.    Walked to the take out cafes in the Tuileries and ate in the gardens.    Spent the afternoon in the Latin quarter just strolling

We rode the open air Big Bus around the city today, spent several hours in the Rodin museum and gardens.   Dinner was bread, cheese, fresh fruit and veggies, then walked around the corner of the apartment to have gelato .  Not a bad day!!   Grant left us on our own today to deal with the metro and bus and only worried slightly when we didn't return to the apartment til 7!

Our last night on board ship

We arrived in Paris about 6pm.   It takes the ship 6 hours to go about 20 miles, by train it takes about 20 minutes     We went through several locks as we approached Paris.  We dock for the night and disembark in the morning    Here's a glimpse of our last evening on board ship
